What were about.
An ice cold bottle of Sancerre, a Caesar salad and a long lazy afternoon in the sunshine is what we can offer you whilst you take in the views from our patio.
Due to its lofty location, you can take in expansive views of Sutton Coldfield, the Cathedral City of Lichfield and nearby Shenstone amongst others. There is a large garden to the rear of the Trooper where you will find traditional garden benches and plenty of room for children to play.
Our stylish bar area is home to two large open fireplaces and has a homely comfortable feel to it. The Trooper is independently owned and subsequently proud of its Free House status. There is a choice of four real ales which are selected from local brewers along with recognised favourites like Pedigree, Holden’s Golden Glow and Abbot Ale. Alongside the vast selection of spirits you will find a host of Lagers, Guinness, Old Speckled Hen Smoothflow, and a choice of draught Ciders. Lovers of fine wines will be pleased with the wide selection our wine list has to offer.
If you are lucky, you may bump into old John Linney, young at 84 years of age, and a proud ex-member of the Home Guard back when the Trooper was home to American GI’s during the Second World War. But be warned, old John has been known to go on a bit whilst reciting his memoirs as interesting as they may be! His cohort and long suffering drinking partner, Mike will no doubt laugh along whilst old John holds court.
The Trooper has quickly built a reputation for fresh quality food and prides itself with sourcing local produce whenever possible. Our Chef and her excellent team have created an exciting new Summer Menu. It is packed with culinary delights and is expansive in all areas from appetizers to amazing desserts.
The Cosy Restaurant has a capacity of 50 covers and has a modern rustic feel about it. Service is paramount at The Trooper and you will be taken care of by professionals in this department. Booking is essential if you want to avoid disappointment as the Trooper is busy everyday of the week. However, the Bar area is always a safe bet if you prefer a more informal dining experience.
